What is SRT File ?
An SRT file is a type of subtitle file that is commonly used to display text on videos. The term “SRT” stands for SubRip Subtitle, which originates from a software called SubRip that extracts subtitles from video files. These files are simple, plain text files with the extension .srt and contain the dialogue of a video along with timestamps to indicate when each line of text should appear and disappear on the screen.
The structure of an SRT file is straightforward. Each subtitle sequence is numbered, followed by the start and end time in the format hours:minutes:seconds,milliseconds. After the timestamp, the actual text of the subtitle is written. For example:
